Another snowflake of my favorite type - simple hexagonal plates. I like unusual pattern near it's edges. This snowflake was slightly bigger than 1 millimeter in diameter - this is typical size for hexagonal plates. 8 identical RAW photos was averaged to boost signal-to-noise ratio of this picture. Snowflake was captured on large glass sheet with LED back light, using additional lens Helios 44M-5, in january 2013, Moscow.

This is medium size snowflake: around 4 millimeters from tip to tip. It have simple shape with straight and broad arms, but complex and dense inner pattern looks really fascinating.

8 RAW photos, taken as fast series, was aligned and averaged before main post-processing steps - for dramatically better SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of this picture. Background: dark woolen fabric, diffused light of winter clousdy sky, external optics Helios 44M-5, March 2013, Moscow.

I do this lightpainting picture just for fun. First time i see cabbage-head in perfect fractal form. This structure - big cone with spiral pattern of smaller cones on it's surface - repeated at least at three levels, maybe even more, but my magnifying glass don't show this clearly.
